Mike Thomas, MA, APC
I am a counselor at the First Baptist Woodstock Counseling Center. I primarily work with couples and individuals, utilizing emotionally focused therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy.
I have completed the emotionally focused therapy for couples (EFT) externship training as well as additional training in emotionally focused individual therapy (EFIT) and emotionally focused family therapy (EFFT). I am also a certified facilitator for the Prepare-Enrich marriage assessment as well as the SYMBIS premarital assessment.
Growing up in a blended family, I have learned the importance of the unique aspects of building relationships in this environment. My wife and I have been married for over twenty years and have two amazing teenage children. Working intentionally to have a healthy marriage and family is a significant priority in our lives.
I have served as a volunteer and as a ministry staff member for over thirty years, including a significant portion of this time as a pastoral counselor. I am well acquainted with ministry burnout, staff conflict, and other ministry-related challenges.
I have over a decade of experience as a mid-level manager in a metro-Atlanta based commercial/industrial construction firm. This experience has provided me with a valuable perspective on navigating work/life balance and managing work-related challenges.
I am currently licensed in the State of Georgia as an associate professional counselor.
It is my privilege to partner with the First Baptist Woodstock Counseling Center. I am under the supervision and direction of James Eubanks, the director of the counseling center.
